28th and 29th September

This is what I’ve been doing for the past 2 days in Kota Kinabalu. Creating a set of street portrait Folio. Been wanting to do this for quite sometimes.

I know the main feature photo is out of focus. But I love the vibe of the image, it fits the location perfectly and I remember I just met the talent, Kimberly like 30mins before the shoot. To get that kind of emotion is kinda rare.

The Photo above is Emily Chung. I knew her when I worked for an e-commerce company for a short period a year ago. She’s been doing modelling as part-time during her free time for fashion catalogue.

When I told her that I’ll be back in Kota Kinabalu for a month. We set a date for a photo session and I told her I wanted to try something different this time.

The photo was taken 2 days ago, there’s a total of 400+ images. I purposely chose 3 images to show what can I photograph in Kota Kinabalu. Small town, limit area but this place somehow is kind of photogenic in some way.

The second one was taken yesterday. Her name is Kimberly Vung, quite an influential I can say with more than 20k followers on her Instagram. A friend of mine, who’s a typical modern female internet stalker been following her and recommended me maybe I should keep in touch with her when I’m in Kota Kinabalu.

So I sent her a an email and got prompt response that she is interested to collaborate for a photoshoot.

I am still looking for a few talent around Kota Kinabalu. It will be interesting if I can compile a hundreds of photograph with diverse of talent and location in this small coastal city located at Borneo Island.

Maybe I can create a small portrait book out of this to show the potential for editorial and commercial work that can be done here.

If anyone happens to read this blog and knew someone you think that I am interested to collaborate with. Do recommend me by sending me a email or DM me on my Instagram.

That’s all and am excited for my 8th Tokyo trip next week.
