1) They work well in the dark
(Darkroom, it tooks time for us to train how to take of the film from the canister then cut it. And then, move roll it to tank developer than close it properly before switch on the light. And also, developing photos print in Dark area. So if you need help from us, We can help you anytime!)

2) They’re used to funny smells
(The smells of Chemicals especially Stop bath and Fixer in Darkroom. Trust me, any ex-University student who used to study art design before 2005 they’ll complain about the how awful is darkroom smells. Don’t worry about your smell, we ain’t complaint and we get used to it.)

3) They make things develop
(from planning, to pre-production to Post Production. Photographer are the one who develop all this idea. Who develop the film or Digital Negative too? Photographer lar bah! If you don’t know how to start something, We will develop it for you instantly!)

4) They work well on many settings
(nuff said)

5) They know how to focus
(nuff said` If you’re blur kind of type. Don’t worry we can help you to focus it.)

6) They can make big things look small and small things look big
(nuff said’)

7) They work well from many different angles
(no matter how bad you look in different angles, or trying sumthing adventurous with odd angle. We don’t mind~~ Too easy!)

They zoom in and out. And in and out and in and out and in and out…

9) They shoot in many different locations
(You are lucky because we photographer go travel everywhere.)

10) They can find the beauty in anything

I’m bored.. So I did this with my holga, Not so very interesting thou. Just a lil tips what you should do with your flash just beside point at the object or you use it just because not enough light on the object.

Anyway here’s the shot :

Holga shots.

In the image, you can see the objects is not flat. Because i’m using 2 flashes to create a surface for this object.
You can see a rim light on top of the product and also on the right side of the lens and the darkest part of the camera is not underexpose, you still can see the texture very clear.

Well, that’s the basic of how to lights up the product you shooting for your client.

This time let me go backward a lil bit, this is how you see from your eyes.

Why is it glowing?

Since I’m doing this shoot alone, I have to hold the soft paper above the camera to create a very soft light. Beside that, from that soft paper the light will spread wider to the white paper front below the camera so that the light from top will bounce and shows the texture of the lens cap and etc.

Ok.. Let’s now see the whole diagram on a wide angle lens :

Flash Diagram

Top Flash is the main global light cover with soft paper (a.k.a D.I.Y softbox) and on the right side, there’s another flash 1 stop lower than the main global light to create a surface on the camera side. The white paper below front is a reflector for both flash to create a lil bit of light in front.

So basically…. Top light is the main source, right light is the 2nd sources just to create surface and 1 stop below brightness than the main light sources. and the White paper maybe give half a stop brightness for the front camera.

Now you know how to lights a product..

Every Photographer have a Contact Sheet.. An Uneditted photo with a photo number arrange side by side like how you write a diary or blog for you to read. But this one, you see the photo and circle the one you likes to use and edit it in darkroom or now the so called digital darkroom.

Contact Sheets

Most of Photojournalist have contact sheet in every film they developed. They just scan it using a scanner that can scan negative film. Even commercial photographer have a contact sheets to decide which photos they want to combine.

In Digital Photography, we use Adobe Bridge, Adobe Lightroom or related software to choose the photos we want to edit and print or post in on the net. You can set a star for your fav photos and also colours to categorize each photo into a set beside using keyword or tag to find your photos.s

Now you know how useful is Contact Sheet.
