Kaamatan 2010, IMHO.
By Flanegan
Went Kaamatan at KDCA on the 30th May for the first time in the last 5 years I guess, Somehow I didn’t feel like I’m in Kaamatan Fest at all because most of the area and places got commercialize by Digi and other big brand itself. So I ended up wandering around the “Rumah-Rumah” area all the time, that’s where all the fun happens. Don’t trust me?
Watch the video below :
Only in recorded Baloi Keningau thou. (Rumah Keningau)
Had Satay Vogok at Penampang House, punya main Sadap!
Because I came KDCA too early and wandering around under the sun. I bought lots of Air Banding and Air Lo Hon Ka at the Street Hawker stall area every 30mins~

This photos explain everything how Hot that day and how big is the ratio differences between dark & bright.
Overall it was fun, but I hope KDCA committee or organizer will do something different next year but please don’t make it too commercialize. I don’t mind with Contemporary Culture as long the custom is still there (like how the Taiwanese Aboriginal do now).
We have 1 year from now on to do some proper research and invite or drag those KadazanDusun who knows allot about the world of Contemporary Art/Performance and Culture. (cough cough Im one of them)
I think most of Sabahan still misunderstood this word Contemporary.
For example those KK Flea Market, Flea Market suppose to mean selling old vintage or unused stuff but what I see is…. the opposite meaning of “Flea Market”.
Dude! It’s not Flea Market. Even if I tell the organizer pun, mana dorang mau listen to me kan! Who Am I after all? goshh~~ the mentality!
If KDCA Committee or Organizer read this post, I would love to see they invite our long lost brother who are now live in other part of the country. U know~ Thousand years ago where a Huge Migration happens. Like those Taiwanese Aborigines in Taiwan. The Mulam, Lahu, Li, Dai, Hani and Boang Ethnic in China and of course the Dayaks of Kalimantan and Sarawak. We’re from the same Archeology after all~ If orang2 Kuat KDCA read this please take note ya! LOL
Enough with my opinion. Now let the image below do the talk, enjoy :

Bah that’s all from me. Seriously! I want to see KDCA invite the Taiwanese Aborigines to next year Kaamatan! haha

I can’t agree more with you. I always stayed around in KDCA for 2 days to photograph around. But this year they have very similar thing like last year and the cultural booths became sales stalls. I left in morning of 1st day and didn’t come back in 2nd day. This year the kaamatan grand finale is very poorly presented..

As usual I missed out going back to Sabah for Harvest Festival again. Flea market..hmm yeah Flea Market now macam lari tajuk saja. I like going to Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya. Still can see quite a lot of old stuff.
