Yes. Although, i live in KL, kuching and KK will always be of interest to me. Both kuching and KK should have monorail lines( rather the LRT) to serve major populated areas. The stste Govt. should look at it seriously. Think about at least 2 lines now, do survey, geotechnical and structural work now, and install the final mechanical and electrical work ( plus the cars/trains) later on. Monorails is preferable because of the cost (almost half LRT cost), less noise, and occupy less space. I am a mechanical engr. and would be more then happy to give my technical input to both state govts. These lines would cut the number of vehicles on the roads, and make the two cities very liveable. Buses would then be allowed to serve the fringe of the cities. my e mail is jwood21212yahoo.com

Yeah.. I've taken a few European transit as well 3 big cities in Australia.....
Most of them are walking distance between station. If it takes like 30mins to walk they have public bus to hail and send you to the nearest station.

That's what reminds me of this. Cos After balik KK like 1 month and stranded in Melbourne for 3 years. Aduh~~~ Doesn't feel like driving car all the time. I just hate looking for parking sumtimes! especially in KK...

I saw the future plan LRT but not that interesting to me ehh~~ LRT are suppose to be placed in a most dense area in metro area including outside city borders such as Putatan, Petagas, Lido, Kolombong and etc...... if u know what i mean~~

[...] Flanegan’s wish-list for an MRT (Mass Rail Transport) Metro for Kota Kinabalu reminds me of the time I shared a ride with a senior state minister some years ago. We were enjoying the nice ride in his Mercedes along the Likas Coastal Highway and taking in the scenery when I asked him whether he and his cabinet colleagues have any long-term planning for Kota Kinabalu. I mean, really long-term plans, like a new airport, subway, a Putrajaya – the plans that a think tank should consider seriously for KK in 50 years. His answer was there is no committee but he believe there are some DBKK plans – not exactly a reassuring answer from a member of a group comprising our top twelve government state leaders.
I have visited big cities like New York, Brisbane, Paris, and even KL where the Metro is the lifeline for daily commuters. The line would have the small semi-urban stations where these have huge parking spaces. Sub-urbanites will drive to these small stations, park their cars (like Salak South on KLIA Transit) and take the Metro to work in the heart of a city. I chatted with one New Yorker who did this - actually commutes 100 miles a day to go to work daily in Manhattan. Of course AMTRACK travels more than 100 miles an hour... that's almost the time I drive from KK to Kiansam at 5-7pm evening rush hour (a mere 15 miles)...
